Police have arrested a 34-year-old man of Somali origin on suspicion of attempted murder and dangerous driving after a vehicle struck multiple pedestrians in west London before fleeing the scene.
The incident unfolded on Ealing Broadway on Saturday afternoon, leaving five people injured.
Two victims were treated at the roadside, while three others were taken to hospital, although authorities said none suffered life-threatening or life-changing injuries. Officers quickly located and arrested the suspect nearby after the car failed to stop.
Counter Terrorism Policing assisted local detectives during the initial investigation, but the Metropolitan Police said the case is not currently being treated as terrorism, while inquiries into the motive continue. Emergency crews, including London’s Air Ambulance, responded to the scene outside Marks and Spencer, where roads remained closed for several hours. Video shared online appeared to show members of the public attempting to stop the fleeing vehicle before police intervened.
