Man arrested following attempted kidnapping in Christchurch

A man has been charged with attempted kidnapping after allegedly trying to pull a person into his vehicle in Christchurch.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, at the northern end of Tennyson Street.

According to police, the man approached the victim before attempting to force them into the vehicle. Following an investigation, a man was arrested on Friday, January 10. He is set to appear in the Christchurch District Court on Thursday, January 16.

Police are appealing for witnesses who were in the Tennyson Street area between 2:50 p.m. and 3:10 p.m. on January 2 to come forward with any information that may assist their investigation, said Detective James Bourne.
