A 23-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after two people were critically injured in a stabbing at Auckland’s Pakuranga Night Markets on Saturday evening.
The man handed himself in to police on Sunday and will appear in the Manukau District Court.
Police are not seeking any other suspects, and the victims, who were taken to Middlemore Hospital in critical condition, are now stable after surgery.
The incident, believed to have stemmed from a trivial dispute over eye contact, forced the temporary closure of the market, which organisers described as an isolated event.
