Man critically injured in overnight assault in Hamilton

Police are investigating two linked violent incidents in Hamilton after a man was found critically injured early this morning.

Officers located the injured man on Avalon Drive at about 2.40am. He had sustained serious injuries consistent with an assault and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Police say the incident is believed to be connected to an earlier violent event at a property on Lyon Street around midnight. Scene guards remain in place at the Lyon Street address, and residents in the area can expect to see an increased police presence as enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Johnathon O’Byrne said police are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding both incidents and are appealing for information from the public.

Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Police on 105, quoting file number 260129/1915. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

  1. Again a totally useless police report.
If they want us to help solve a crime the public needs to know more details: age, sex, ethnicity, what where the connecting circumstances?
And don’t hide behind ‘privacy’ or legalities. ‘Allegedly’ is the new word.
