39-year-old Marc Fata was sentenced today at North Shore District Court to eight months in prison for assaulting an 11-year-old boy with a wine bottle at Yummy Dumpling restaurant in Browns Bay on July 30, 2023.

The child, who was dining with his family, was attacked without provocation by Fata, a stranger with ‘mental health issues’.

Although the bottle did not break, the boy suffered significant pain, swelling, and a bleeding tongue.

The mother reported lasting psychological effects on her son, who was once happy and carefree but now struggles after the incident, according to a report in legacy media.

Judge Anna Fitzgibbon, acknowledging Fata’s remorse and mental health, adjusted the sentence, factoring in his time already served and imposing six months of post-sentence conditions.

  1. There is something seriously wrong with that man. He needs a focken good hidding round the chops so he knows what it’s like by someone bigger than he is. Good he doesn’t get name suppression.

    • Agree 100%. Where the bloody hell is the father? Someone does that to one of MY kids, there’ll be true crime Netflix documentaries about me for years to come.

  2. Much as this angers me, what also angers me is the piss poor care on offer for people with mental health issues in New Zealand…again our tax dollars not being used where they are needed…maybe they could ask Kiev for some of our cash back?

    • Agree, then it would be overflowing Labour/Greens/Maori Party deranged Marxists, gender clowns and climate alarmists.

      • That’s OK- we’ll build more cells and day rooms where they can roam about the floor drooling and mumbling about getting their most recent Covid vaccine!
We had a mental case in our neighbourhood back in North Amerika who came after my older brother with a shovel, and the chase ended-up in the house.
Under the Castle /Stand Your Ground Laws for that particular state, my Bro got to our Dad’s 12 gauge shotgun and blasted the bastard.
No charges against Big Bro were filed.
The deranged neighbour had shot at the kids in the neighbourhood with BB guns, chased them with pitchforks, and continually uttered verbal threats of ‘wiping out the neighbourhood’.
This is why we need to fully support the U.N. Right to Self Defence’ under Chapter Vll, Article 51, which NZ signed on to and thus the U.N. Charter and the Articles supercede NZ Law by agreement.
Any lawyer out there care to comment on why we are NOT allowed to defend ourselves here in NZ?
