Last night in South Auckland’s Papatoetoe, a shooting at the Allenby Park Hotel prompted a massive police response, with over 25 vehicles and 15 armed officers at the scene.
A 23-year-old man allegedly fired shots and fled before police arrived, leading to an urgent search.
No injuries were reported, despite the presence of many including young families.
The suspect was apprehended this afternoon after police executed a search warrant in Randwick Park. He is due in court on firearms charges and for breaching bail conditions.
The incident, which caused a temporary shutdown of Great South Rd, ended without further threat to the public.
