Massey University cancels online exams due to technical issues

Massey University news

Massey University was forced to cancel its online supervised exams today due to significant technical issues, causing stress and panic among students.

The disruption comes just days into the university’s two-week mid-year exam period.

Students reported being unable to log into their exams, encountering other students’ personal details, and facing long delays. Despite initial assurances from the university that the issues had been resolved, ongoing problems led to an emergency meeting and the subsequent cancellation of today’s exams.

The university has apologised for the disruption and is conducting a full investigation into the failures of its online exam provider.

The student association told state media it had serious concerns over the reliability of the online exam system, highlighting the potential for data breaches and unauthorised exam access. Many students had to make special arrangements for childcare and time off work, only to face frustrating delays and access issues. Student feedback shared by the association revealed widespread disappointment and stress, with some fearing failure due to the technical problems.

The university is said to be prioritising decisions on the next steps for the remaining exam period and plans to update students shortly.

  1. What an utter cluster f***.

    Dare I suggest the university redirect it’s ample DEI/wokery funding towards delivering fundamental services properly?

    The former is a frivolous icing, the latter the basic cake itself.

  2. Remember 4-5 yeara go when high school students took their NCEA testing which was then downgraded by the NZQA?
    REMEMBER THAT?!!!?
    Many who qualified for University Entrance suddenly found themselves cheated out of higher education despite knowing and proving that they did well on their testing!.
    Why?
    The government maintains the Colonial / Provincial Status Quo on which the students who attend Uni are based on their family’s composition (ie 5th generation Kiwis, wealthy, part of an Old Boy / Old Girl Network, or related to a Freemason like Jabby is…) will not be interfered with or displaced by the lower social order that happens to be smarter than the ‘selected few’…!
    No wonder the kids are sent packing offshore to attend Uni, at a much greater cost!
    Note to the kids-
    1. Get an apprenticeship, and learn a trade;
    2. Work in that trade, and then apply to attend Uni as a part-time adult student; Pay as you go, so you won’t have massive ‘student loan debt’.
    3. Go to Uni at night or on week-ends;
    4. Complete Uni and get the degree;
    5. Stay employed in your trade until you get a lucrative degree-based job offer.
    6. Having the trade initially serves as a back-up for degree-based employment that will suffer lay-offs, firings,
    and redundancies.
