Broadcaster and former MP Michael Laws has confirmed he will contest the Waitaki electorate on behalf of NZ First.
Party leader Winston Peters said Laws would bring deep experience and leadership to Parliament.
Laws, who currently hosts a programme on The Platform and serves on the Otago Regional Council, said he hoped to become broadcasting minister and could put RNZ “on the chopping list” if he held the portfolio.
He also criticised Prime Minister Christopher Luxon as lacking charisma while praising Peters’ leadership. Laws previously served as a National MP before shortly joining NZ First and later becoming mayor of Whanganui. Read more at Stuff, RNZ and Holyhekatuiteka on X.

I watched the video. Laws was far too kind to that grotesquerie. Ardern isn’t just a hypocrite. She is a down and outright liar of the first order who thinks people are too stupid to see her for what she really is. She is a believer in the old mantra that if you repeat a lie often enough, eventually it will be believed.
I only hope the people of the Waitaki electorate have the nous to elect Michael Laws – by a landslide – in November.

Still not voting NZF. They have been in govt with the other lot this term and I’ve seen nothing that’s made me anything other than consistently disgusted and furious. >Deporting PR’s or NZ’s citizens to foreign states on trumped up charges
>Pushing the COVID jab or any of its measures, in alignment with the WHO’s stipulations
>More taxation. New Zealanders are already paying a fortune in tax and getting next to nothing back for it.
>Failure to address and fund the healthcare crisis in New Zealand.
>An end to woke politicised education across all levels of education in New Zealand
>Deportation of non citizens for significant crimes, no “if’s” or cries of “hardship”. These people should not be our problem.
My advice to anyone is list what any political party proposes and ask yourself if you are “okay” with it? If you can honestly say “no” then I’d suggest not voting for them. Policy is what defines a party not flowery words. This is how I vote.
This means that the only political party left to vote for is the New Zealand Loyal Party..!

We used to be NZ First members, supporters & voters.
When we asked for Winston to intervene into a problem in the public sector where my partner was being bullied, abused, threatened with death and severely underpaid, nobody from NZ First came to help us. Heidi B. of NZ First and Winston did NOTHING!!!!
& hence my partner’s nearly 20 year career in the public sector ended-up flushed down the toilet due to ‘CONSTRUCTIVE DISMISSAL’ and a nervous breakdown coupled with on-the-job injuries!
ACC was of no help, due to mailcious Old Boy / Old Girl Network phone calls, and we were followed around and photographed by Able Security. (NOTE- ACC keeps two files; one official and the other a secret second file!).
Going to a law firm was a waste of thousands of dollars as the CEO of the law firm also sat on the BoD of the public service entity that was in question, thus we were never informed of a ‘conflict of interest’.
So no…we won’t be voting for NZ First…and when you go to the local NZ First member’s office in their electorate, they keep the doors locked, are almost never there in those offices, and never return phone calls!
The only political party which has a membership which knows what it’s like to be f#*ked-over by the Zionist-controlled New Zealand Government is the NEW ZEALAND LOYAL PARTY! Kelvyn Alp’s Bankruptcy: A Corrupt Establishment Hit Job

Claims circulating online that New Zealand Loyal leader Kelvyn Alp is ineligible to stand in the election are false.
Attorney General Judith Collins signed off on Alp’s bankruptcy as one of her final acts in office before fleeing politics to the Law Society.
It stemmed from a lawsuit over his false arrest. The presiding judge – a former senior police advisor – ruled that police can act on false information in their system without any duty to verify it, granting them full indemnity.
“The corrupt system protected its own. Justice was denied,” Alp said. “I am able to contest the 2026 Election, and I will deliver justice for all who have been wronged by the system.”
“Perhaps the New Nation Party should read the Electoral Act before publishing confident legal claims about it.”
Section 47(1) of the Electoral Act 1993 states that a person registered as an elector is qualified to stand as either an electorate or party-list candidate. Sections 47(2) and 47(3) add that the person must not be disqualified from electoral registration and must be a New Zealand citizen.
Section 80 then specifies the disqualifications from electoral registration.
Undischarged bankruptcy is not one of them.
The Act contains no provision disqualifying an undischarged bankrupt from standing for Parliament. The Electoral Commission likewise states that a candidate must be enrolled to vote and be a New Zealand citizen by the nomination deadline.
So the assertion that Kelvyn Alp “likely cannot stand” because he is bankrupt is not an interpretation of the legislation. It is simply made up.
This is elementary statutory checking. A political party making public claims about electoral law should perhaps bother to read the sections it invokes before lecturing anyone else about eligibility.
