Vance Luther Boelter, 57, has been identified as the suspect in the fatal shootings of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, as well as the wounding of State Senator John Hoffman and his wife.
Authorities say Boelter posed as a police officer, using a uniform and a vehicle made to resemble a patrol car, to carry out the early morning attacks in Brooklyn Park and Champlin.
He allegedly escaped through a back door after exchanging gunfire with police. Governor Tim Walz condemned the killings as “targeted political violence,” calling on the nation to reject all forms of political aggression.
Boelter is listed as the CEO of Red Lion Group in the Democratic Republic of Congo and of Praetorian Guard Security Services, according to Minnesota Africans United.
His LinkedIn profile states he has been working on projects in Central Africa and holds advanced degrees in management and leadership.
Investigators discovered a pile of “No Kings” protest flyers in a vehicle believed to be linked to Boelter, prompting law enforcement to advise the public to avoid related protests, although they have no evidence of a direct threat to those events at this stage.
Melissa Hortman, 55, a member of the Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), was fatally shot along with her husband Mark Hortman at their home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
John Hoffman, 60, also a DFL member, was shot and injured along with his wife Yvette Hoffman at their residence in Champlin, Minnesota.
Boelter is still at large and considered armed and dangerous, with a large-scale multi-agency manhunt underway involving Brooklyn Park police, the Minnesota State Patrol, the FBI, and the ATF. Authorities say he fled on foot after a shootout at Hortman’s home.
The left are usually the violent nutty ones.
