Chelsey Field has spoken publicly for the first time about the deaths of her children August, Hugo and Goldie, who perished alongside their father, Dean Field, in last weekend’s Sanson house fire, which police are treating as a murder-suicide.

In an emotional statement published online, she described her children as her “absolute world,” recalling their joyful routines, shared adventures, and the deep bond they had with each other and their beloved dog Marlo, who also died in the blaze; the ashes of her stillborn daughter Iris were lost as well.

Field said the tragedy has left her devastated but uplifted by the support shown by first responders, her community and New Zealanders nationwide, whose support has helped her endure. She paid heartfelt tributes to each child’s personality, passions and tender moments, while police continue their forensic investigation into the fire.
