Multiple Firearms incidents in Auckland overnight

Auckland firearms incidents news

Tāmaki Makaurau Police responded to five reported shooting incidents in Auckland last evening.

They were in Ōtara, Papatoetoe, Flat Bush, Papakura, and Te Atatū.

The first four incidents happened between around 6:40pm and 7:40pm. The incident in Te Atatū was reported around 9:20pm.

No one has been injured, however there was damage done to several houses.

Work is ongoing to determine exactly what has taken place and any potential links between the incidents themselves.

Police will not tolerate activity which disrupts communities and puts people at extreme risk.

Police want to reassure the community we take firearms crime very seriously and will continue to work to hold offenders to account.

This morning’s update

Police have responded to seven firearms incidents across Tāmaki Makaurau overnight.

They were in Ōtara, Papatoetoe, Flat Bush, Papakura, Te Atatū, Henderson and Mt Albert.

Police are not aware of any injuries at this stage.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the specific circumstances around what has taken place overnight and any potential links between the incidents.

Police want to reassure the community that we are treating these incidents very seriously and Police staff are on the ground providing reassurance at each location.

It is extremely fortunate that no one has been harmed in these incidents and police know the community will be as disgusted as we are by this callous behaviour.

These offenders have shown blatant disregard for the safety of communities by their indiscriminate and reckless use of firearms in public.

We ask people to call Police immediately on 111 if they hear or see anything concerning in their neighbourhood.

The community’s information is crucial to our ongoing investigations and police encourage anyone who has information that may assist enquiries, to anonymously provide information through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

  1. Whoever is doing these random ‘on purpose’ shootings will not stop until someone else who is otherwise ‘law abiding’ shoots back!
IF GUNS WERE OUTLAWED, ONLY OUTLAWS WOULD HAVE GUNS!
AN ARMED SOCIETY IS A POLITE SOCIETY
EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO DEFEND THEMSELVES UNDER THE UN CHARTER ARTICLE 7, WHICH CONFLICTS WITH THE RIGHT TO SELF DEFENCE.

  2. How your gun control scheme working out, Ardern and Coster?

Now only the crims have firearms, you happy? What’s next? Perhaps using gang members as security guards?

  3. I guess we are bound to see more restrictions and higher costs on legal gun owners because they must be the ones running around the streets doing these shootings. 🤔
