Name release, Lake Horowhenua homicide

Police are continuing their investigation into the death of a man found in a building at Muaūpoko Park, Lake Horowhenua, on Thursday, October 17.

A homicide inquiry was launched after the discovery of the deceased, who has now been identified as 56-year-old Horowhenua resident Robert Nattie Albert.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thompson confirmed that Robert’s funeral service took place on Tuesday, October 22, at the Ngāti Huia marae.

Since the investigation began, police have heard from several members of the public who were in the Lake Horowhenua area on Wednesday, October 16, and Thursday, October 17. Additionally, footage from surrounding areas has been gathered and is being analyzed to track the movements of people and vehicles near the scene.

“We are grateful to those who have come forward, but we still want to hear from anyone who was in the Lake Horowhenua area and has not yet spoken to us,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Thompson.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact police online or by calling 105, quoting reference number 241017/7823. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers at 0800 555 111.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to gather more details about the circumstances surrounding Mr. Albert’s death.
