Victim of Onehunga bus attack named as accused appears in court

Kael Leona, 37, has appeared in the Auckland District Court, charged with the murder of Bernice Louise Marychurch, who was fatally stabbed on a moving bus in Onehunga.

Marychurch died at the scene after suffering multiple stab wounds on Church Street on Wednesday afternoon. Her identity has been revealed on social media by family and reported in legacy media.

Leona faces additional unrelated charges, including burglary, strangulation, and threatening to kill.

He will next appear in the Auckland High Court on November 13.

In response to the incident, Auckland Transport has increased security along the bus route, and police are maintaining a visible presence at transport hubs across the city.

  1. I’d like to know if this dude ever had a father figure in his early years.
    And if so, if that father had a father, re male parent, a contributing entity, and not someone sidelined from core-family conduct by socialistic opportunistic carrots.
