Napier police seize drugs, cash, and stolen items in major bust

Police in Napier have made a seized a number of illegal items, including a loaded firearm, ammunition, and drugs, during a search warrant execution on Thames Street.

The operation, conducted by the Eastern District Organised Crime Unit on Tuesday, January 14, around 4 p.m., led to the discovery of a loaded firearm, multiple rounds of ammunition, and various illicit substances.

Officers seized approximately 60 bags of cannabis, a small amount of methamphetamine, and drug-related equipment, including a scale. Cash totaling $3,900 was also recovered.

Additionally, a stolen e-scooter and multiple Milwaukee-brand power tools reported stolen were located on the property.

A 34-year-old man was arrested during the operation and is set to appear in Hastings District Court. He faces multiple charges, including supplying methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine for supply, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of cannabis for supply.

In a statement, police emphasised their ongoing commitment to tackling the illegal drug trade, which they say has devastating effects on communities. Authorities encouraged anyone with information about drug-related activities to report it by calling 105, visiting a local station, or providing anonymous tips via Crime Stoppers at 0800 555 111.
