Stuart Nash has resigned as a New Zealand First election candidate due to fallout over remarks he made about National MP Katie Nimon’s maternity leave.
NZ First leader Winston Peters confirmed the resignation late Wednesday.
Nash defended his comments as being about commitment and performance rather than parenthood, maintaining respect for working parents and pointing to Labour’s record on extending paid parental leave, but the backlash ultimately brought his candidacy to an abrupt end.

Firstly, I’m not surprised to hear a male is fired for criticising a womans work ethic.
If Winston is so concerned about parent time with children he should review the complete shambles the family has become.
Legislate parental alienation a crime.
