Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a proposed ceasefire deal with Hezbollah, which is set for Cabinet approval, marking a potential end to a devastating year-long conflict.

The agreement, facilitated by “intensive U.S. diplomatic efforts”, includes an immediate ceasefire, with Hezbollah withdrawing heavy weapons 20 miles from the Israeli border and Israeli forces gradually pulling out within 60 days.

Lebanese and UN forces will patrol southern Lebanon to enforce the deal. President Biden, expected to address the agreement, praised the diplomatic achievement, while Lebanon’s Prime Minister Najib Mikati called for swift implementation.

The conflict has left nearly 3,800 dead and displaced over 1.2 million people in Lebanon, with 60,000 Israelis also forced from their homes.

Rockets and airstrikes continued until the agreement’s announcement, underscoring the urgency for peace.

Netanyahu warned of severe consequences if Hezbollah violates the terms. Lebanon’s Hezbollah leadership were cautious about the deal, stating they would review the final agreement for “alignment with their stipulations”.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken described the broader impact of the ceasefire, potentially stabilising the region and influencing negotiations in Gaza.

While the Hezbollah ceasefire deal appears imminent, efforts to address the Gaza conflict remain stalled. The agreement is seen as a critical step in restoring safety and enabling displaced residents to return home, though experts note that its success will depend on strict adherence to the outlined terms.

  1. This is where genuine public disgust and pressure, voiced around the world, can lead. It has little do with the war mongering US establishment, beyond their understanding their puppet regime in the middle east, faces extinction. Still, good to see but I do wonder if it will hold. Certainly those involved, are, for the most part, hardly trustworthy…….

No wonder the native Floridians are leaving the State of Florida by the droves, due to hyper-inflated land taxes (J3wi$h-imposed by Zionist Tax Assessors), unaffordable insurance (by J3wi$h-owned companies) and the threats of jail in the event you criticise those people under ‘anti-semitism laws’!
