Netanyahu signals Gaza hostage release as Trump pushes for swift peace deal

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he hopes to announce the release of hostages held in Gaza “in the coming days,” following Hamas’ conditional acceptance of a US-backed peace plan that includes a ceasefire and the return of 20 Israeli captives, both living and dead, in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian detainees.

Netanyahu reiterated that Gaza would be demilitarised, while the Israel Defense Forces confirmed it was preparing for the plan’s first phase.

US President Donald Trump, personally leading the negotiations, urged Hamas to act quickly and announced that Israel had agreed to an initial troop withdrawal line. Indirect ceasefire talks between the sides are set to begin in Egypt on Monday.

Israeli air strikes on Gaza continued Saturday despite Trump’s call to halt bombing, with 66 Palestinians reportedly killed in 24 hours.

The war, sparked by Hamas’ October 2023 attack that left about 1,200 Israelis dead and 251 taken hostage, has displaced most of Gaza’s population and destroyed much of its infrastructure.

While hostages’ families and some civilians in Gaza expressed cautious hope, major obstacles remain — including Hamas’ refusal to disarm and Israel’s insistence on security guarantees — leaving the fate of a final deal uncertain at this stage.

  2. More smoke and mirrors- plenty of smoke in Gaza and lots of shattered mirrors!
J3w$ are NEVER to be trusted!
I foresee the Palestinians being sent to the southern end of Gaza, and then the Israelis detonating a nuke there after a ‘peace agreement’ is signed. After all, this is what the IDF and U.S. Senator, Freemason and murderous Satanist Lindsey Graham wanted to do a couple of years ago!
Israel owns the Trump Family and the entire U.S. Con-gress. This is only a move to appease the worldwide protests asainst Israel that have grown exponentially.
Watch what happens in two weeks time, with more ‘smoke and mirrors (ie Venezuela, Ukraine, & Russia…)
In the meantime, NZ needs to recognise Palestine, and then declare itself as a Nation of Armed Neutrality!.
In order to achieve the latter, one will need to vote for the NZ Loyal Party!

  3. No one can trust Israel, its a full blown rogue state, with ambitions for a “greater Israel”, that wont go away…….

  4. Genocide will continue. All the short term drama is to fool the public in the West. The long term trajectory is clear for decades. Slow but steady phase to create a “greater” Zionist state covering a large part of middle east.
