Tensions between Israel and Iran have escalated sharply following a wave of missile exchanges, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing to continue military operations “as long as necessary” to neutralise Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities.
The Israeli airstrikes reportedly targeted key military and nuclear infrastructure in Iran, killing several senior commanders, according to Iranian state media. In response, Iran launched a series of retaliatory missiles, some of which were intercepted with U.S. assistance, while others struck Tel Aviv, injuring at least 34 people, Israeli emergency services confirmed.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, accused Israel of initiating the conflict, stating, “The Zionist regime will not remain unscathed from the consequences of its crime,” and promising that Iran’s response would not be “half-measured.” He added that Iran would “inflict heavy blows” on Israel. Iran’s Fars news agency quoted military officials as saying, “This confrontation will not end with last night’s limited actions… this action will be very painful and regrettable for the aggressors.”
In a direct address to Iranian citizens posted on social media, Netanyahu described the ongoing assault as “one of the largest military operations in history – Operation Dawn of the Lions.” He claimed the campaign aims to “prevent the Islamic regime’s nuclear and ballistic missile threats,” while also expressing hope that it would “pave the way for you to achieve your freedom.”
Iranian state TV has reported that 60 civilians, including 20 children, were killed in an Israeli strike on a housing complex in Tehran. In turn, Iran has warned other countries that any support for Israel or interference in Tehran’s operations could result in attacks on their regional bases or naval assets.

Where’s the contradiction? Iran may not have the shelters Israel have, they planned for this, after all.
As for Israeli planes being shot down. Again, Russia has provided Iran with SU series air defence. Considered by most the best in the world.
Now to Iran’s missiles. They are some of the best too, again, no doubt helped by the Russian’s, whose missiles are ahead of everyone else.

I would suspect that Iran also has a nuke has already been procured either from Russia or the black market.
The immediate goal is to exhaust the Israeli air defences (Iron Dome running out of ammo, for instance..) before launching the Great White Flash(s) so that they arrive at their target(s).
