Ngawai Himiona murderer gets ‘life imprisonment’

Ngawai Himiona news

The man has continued name suppression and will spend at least 17 years in jail.

The man pleaded guilty on 16 June 2022 and appeared today in the Hamilton High Court for sentencing before Justice Simon Moore.

The tragic events took place on 16 December 2020.

Himiona, a mother of four, suffered a broken nose from an assault by the man earlier that day.

At around 9.15pm Himiona had been speaking on the phone to a 111 operator. The man became angry when he learned of the call. He took a boning knife from the kitchen and stabbed her 17 times on the upper body. Her four month old baby was asleep between her legs at the time, while her four year old child witnessed the crime. Her two older children were not in the house.

Emergency services arrived but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

  1. Why does this evil toerag get name suppression? Who is he related to? He has even pleaded guilty and been sentenced. Not a lot of transparency in the judiciary either.
