More than 36,000 nurses, midwives, and health care assistants are striking again on Thursday, the second walkout this week, demanding better pay and safer staffing after nearly a year of stalled negotiations with Health NZ.
Life-preserving services will continue, but thousands of surgeries and appointments are expected to be disrupted.
The New Zealand Nurses Organisation has rejected Health NZ’s offers of 1–2 percent annual increases, calling for rises above 3 percent to keep pace with living costs, alongside urgent staffing improvements.
Health NZ has apologised after being found to have withheld information on staffing, but officials deny hospitals are understaffed.
Nurses say the unprecedented double strike reflects their frustration at unsafe conditions and stagnant talks.
These people are entitled and very well paid and it should be illegal for these taxpayer ticks to strike.
Did you miss the bit about unsafe conditions and inadequate staffing levels? Think about that next time you have to wait six hours or more to be seen, get sent home when you shouldn’t have been, have treatment declined, or spend interminable time on a wait list.
If that New Zealand Nurses Organisation had any integrity to their patients rather than toeing the line to their handlers, I would have more sympathy for their quest.
Nurses are at the coal face and saw and knew pretty early on that that covid treatment was severely flawed. There were even some that I know personally who were aware of better alternative treatments like Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine.
Nurses need a new organisation that gives them freedom from corporate pharma pressure. Same with the hypocritical doctors who still place money above their Hippocratic oath, and so does their organisation too.
But it’s all based on the filth in the ministry, and that’s the same bog as it was.
How can these people look themselves in the mirror? Can they not read the room?
I agree. The real question that needs to be asked is why are our hospitals full of sick people. The inconvenient answer of course is that our hospitals are full of fully covid jabbed people and it will only get worse.
The Covid jab was a bio weapon designed to reduce the world’s population. Indisputable fact.
Government of course will duck for cover on this issue as will the 2nd Covid Royal Commission which has turned out to be a complete farce.
Chris Hipkins has the gall to want to be PM again when he should be in jail for crimes against the people of NZ and Jabcinda is scared stiff (quite rightly) to step foot back into this country she left in tatters both financially and health wise.
Labour and National could have given the $100 million in taxpayer funded money they handed to the Kiev regime in Ukraine to nurses and teacher but no, lets waste it on one of the most corrupt nations in Europe instead. That really helps the people of New Zealand, right? Next election join me in showing both of these political parties, the door.

The key point here is the over extension of the military, a polite euphemism for “we are taking significant casualties and expect a lot more”. They know this wont be a cake walk and they may well not win. As the old saying goes ‘cities are the grave yards of armies”.
