NZ Outdoors & Freedom Party announces energy spokesperson and candidate Lester Bryant

The New Zealand Outdoors & Freedom Party (NZOFP) is proud to announce the appointment of Lester Bryant as the party’s Energy Spokesperson and List Candidate for the upcoming election.

Bringing decades of high-level technical expertise and a “numbers-first” approach to policy, Bryant will also contest an Auckland electorate (to be confirmed).

Originally from South Taranaki, Bryant’s career is rooted in the practical realities of New Zealand’s primary and energy sectors. From his early years in the Taranaki oil and gas fields to helping build the Maui platform and commissioning petrochemical plants in Queensland, he has developed a deep, hands-on understanding of energy infrastructure. His background includes eight years in the New Zealand electricity generation industry, specializing in high-voltage plants and heavy electrical equipment.

“Lester’s unique strength lies in his ability to bridge the gap between complex engineering and economic reality,” says the NZOFP leadership team. “His irreverent humor and genuine passion for the prosperity of everyday Kiwis make him an invaluable asset to our team.”

In addition to his 15 years in the energy sector, Bryant is a seasoned entrepreneur and software innovator. Since the early 2000s, he has been instrumental in creating and improving five New Zealand-based and two Australian software products. For the last 25 years, he has applied his analytical mind to the construction industry, owning and operating quantity surveying businesses.

Bryant’s core mission is to tackle the rising cost of living and restore the “Kiwi Dream” for the next generation. He is particularly focused on ensuring New Zealanders under the age of 45 have the economic path to build independent wealth.

“Having the spare cash to own your own house, put your kids through university, and contribute to a cleaner, better society used to be the reality of being a New Zealander. Today, for those under 45, these are just aspirations,” says Bryant. “I hate that. We need to fix the numbers behind our infrastructure and economy, or we risk losing who we are as a nation.”

With a solid grasp of taxation and economic structures, Bryant intends to advocate for utility and infrastructure reorganization that prioritizes efficiency and affordability for all citizens.

The Current Threat to our oil supply:

“What’s important is we’re going to help people understand what’s ahead of them. So that you can start making decisions. This is not the scale of the problem, where you can rely on the government to send in the cavalry and solve it for you. You’re going to have to make some of your own decisions in this process, so the best thing we can do for you is equip you with the knowledge, then use whatever means you have to set yourself up.” – Lester Bryant Energy Spokesperson and Candidate

“There are some good things that will come out of this, but it is going to take a lot of thinking and innovation and community spirit.”  – Sue Grey Party Leader

  1. Get Marsden Point going.

Nationalise NZ’s oil and gas resources. We’ve got plenty.

Start refining our own oil and gas at Marsen Point. We’ll have so much to export at premium prices if oil prices keep going up.

  2. Absolutely at least we could refine fuels then .. Self-sufficiency is the name of the game now and being prepared

I find it amazing our team spend some time there at Marsden point … We as a freedom community screamed from the rooftops not to close it .. and now here we are ! In a very vulnerable position

  3. I suggest that Luxon starts grovelling to Putin. Apologise for being a globalist and failing to understand the real reason why Russia attacked Ukraine. Promise that New Zealand will become a neutral country and will no longer suck up to the US and EU and stick its nose where it doesn’t belong. Then maybe Russia just might sell its oil to New Zealand as long as they pay in roubles or yuan. Karma.

    • No. Stopping the grovelling should be the first thing on the agenda – especially grovelling to Israel, the UK, the US, the WEF, the WHO, the UN, Bill Gates, Peter Thiel et. al.
I doubt Putin would respect a groveler – no one does.

  4. There is another problem now though. Israel attacked Iran’s Pars gas field, which then resulted in a reciprocal attack on Qatar’s side of the field. If/when Israel attacks Iran’s oil infrastructure, we will see the reciprocal attacks on the other Gulf states oil.

Then it won’t matter if the strait is open or not. There will be no oil to move.

This is looking very probable at present. Is this part of the plan? Not just oil is being held up. Essential fertilizers bound for the US and other countries could be restrained, severely effecting food production.

    • NO Political science degrees or career politicians in our party just good hard-working folk that don’t really want to be politicians but are sick of the lies and want to make change .
