Police have spoken to two people for unlawful hunting in Bendigo, Central Otago.
On 17 May, two prize stags were shot and killed on private land.
Following lines of enquiry, Police from Cromwell and Queenstown executed search warrants early Wednesday morning at addresses in Cromwell and Lake Hayes.
Two youths were identified for unlawful hunting. They have been referred to a youth justice process.
One of the youths is a firearms licence holder. This licence as well as firearms were seized by police during the search warrant.
Police also recovered antlers that were believed to have belonged to the two stags. These will be returned to the owner.
“While we are pleased to have caught the offenders to hold them to account, Police are disappointed with unlawful hunting occurring in the first place”, said police in a statement.
“Unfortunately, poaching and unlawful hunting continues to be an ongoing issue across the wider district. These are not only for personal safety reasons but also for the flow on effect from the damage caused to rural residents, farmers properties and trophy hunting businesses.
“Hunting without explicit permission from a landowner, farmer, or forestry manager is illegal.
“On public conservation land, a Department of Conservation (DOC) permit is mandatory.
“Police urge anybody who has been a victim of poaching to make a report to Police via 105. You can either call or use the service online. On the website, click ‘Make a report’.”
What else can families do when meat is so UNAFFORDABLE at the supermarkets & Grocery Stores?
Even the Bolar & Topside Roasts are sitting on the shelves to the point of turning brown with ‘reduced’ on the price tag, yet is still…UNAFFORDABLE!

Those with hunting skills and licences go out to find fresh protein, even if it’s outside of hunting season, and outside of 1080 drop areas!
Guerilla Veggie Gardens are now being planted in secret, hidden locations so that others will not steal someone else’s plantings, w/ cannabis being a cash income due to families that have lost their benefits under the Nazional / Uni-Party Government!
After all, with Backyard Veggie Gardens being outlawed in Europe and North America in some locations, with ‘Water Fees / Charges, one will need to ‘Go Guerilla’.

Exactly. No doubt too, the cost of these shitty DOC permits would cancel out much of the gain food wise, of hunting. In my dads day you went hunting in your country without all the expensive red tape. Just another means of keeping people on their knees. Utter bastards in office in this country now.
Another reason Jabby grabbed the Firearms- no one can hunt effectively without the same, even though many have switched to Archery-related ‘appliances’ which also serve as ‘Force Multipliers’ for Self-Defence.

I hear ya but this story has nothing to do with what you are trying to say. Shooting a prized stag for the antlers on an operator’s land is is just awful and stupid.
On top of that, your mindset will not bode well for your fellow citizens. W are ALL shafted, but many are armed. Farmers are farmers but not sheeple like these teens.

This was exactly how the Robin Hood legends started. After the Norman (ie French) conquest of England in 1066, the deer in the forests were pinched by the king and ordinary people were not allowed to hunt them for food. So, gradually over time, thoroughly decent law-abiding people became outlaws in the eyes of the colonisers of England who eventually became the English monarchy.
Funny I was thinking that myself. Yes they outlawed hunting and even cruelly had peoples dogs disabled in case they were used for that purpose. What we see now is not that different.A landed gentry propped up by globalist governments in their pay, who make it hard for ordinary people to do things like hunt and fish, because of course, that hits their bottom line in over priced oligopoly in meat, fish and game. Different bastards, same attitude, inherited from the UK, of course.
Remember the histories of the Dark Ages, the Medieval Times and the early Renaissance, when the Serfs, Peons and Indentured Servants had to pay homage to their Landlord with a dozen eggs every Christ-Mass, thus giving away protein to the ‘Better’, while very seldom seeing a sliver of meat year-round for themselves!
The bird-masked Doctors of the day knew full well what diet meant regarding the consumption of meats, eggs and fish, and ensured that those doing the work were minimally fed so that they could be more easily manipulated due to minimised brain chemistry via the lack of amino acids!
