On the one-year anniversary of the tragic death of an infant known as Baby Ru in Lower Hutt, police are renewing their appeal for information to bring the case to justice.
Detective Inspector Nick Pritchard described the case as a “callous homicide” involving a defenseless child, and affirmed the police’s commitment to securing justice for Baby Ru and closure for the family and community.
Pritchard said a dedicated team of investigators has been working meticulously over the past year, sorting through vast amounts of evidence. Despite the painstaking nature of the investigation, he stressed the importance of ensuring no detail is overlooked.
“We believe those who know what happened to Baby Ru must surely have it weighing on their conscience,” Pritchard stated.
He urged anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward, saying, “Lighten your load, do the right thing, and tell us what you know.”
Police thanked those who have already provided information, affirming that every lead will be pursued, no matter how small.
