Two people will spend Christmas facing criminal charges after allegedly loading three shopping trolleys with goods and leaving a Kmart store in Botany without paying.
Police were called to the store just after 10.30am following reports that a man and woman had taken dozens of items.
Officers were given a detailed description of the pair and the vehicle they left in, which was later located at an address on Great South Road in Manurewa. Police arrested two people at the scene and recovered about $400 worth of goods from the vehicle.
Senior Sergeant Simon Cornish of Counties Manukau East Police praised frontline staff for their quick response and effective follow-up, saying the arrests brought the matter to a swift conclusion.
A 35-year-old woman has been charged with two counts of shoplifting and driving without a licence, and is due to appear in the Manukau District Court on Christmas Eve. Police are reminding the public to report suspicious or illegal activity as soon as possible.
Who pays for all of this?
Increased food prices
Increased insurance payments

I don’t care about any police ‘reports’ unless they provide real information and details to the offending.
Was that unlicensed driver/thief a wife with a cuck husband, mum and son, or part of a gang?
These police ‘reports’ do NOTHING to solve crime, are just window-dressing for police hooray, and are therefore just mind pollution.
Yes. I’ve commented many times here about police ‘reports’ which fail to even give the gender of criminals or victims let alone any other details (which must be known).
Three trolley loads amounting to $400
Feel it was all essentials people in poverty needed so act was desperate not for profit. They didn’t go for most expensive. ( $133 per trolley) still is wrong thing to do but perhaps judgements have to be with deeper understanding
Vety funny. You do realise, surely, that KMart isn’t a supermarket. They weren’t stealing food (not that I would defend that), they were stealing consumer items. Thieving.
Sheets, towels … there are many many essentials at Kmart … simple kitchen utensils …
Have you walked through Kmart and seen things you have in your home that you would consider are essentials. Food alone is not essential in today’s world. Shelter and clothing related things are also a requirement
BAWHAWHAWHAWHAWHAW…(LOL)
Were they dressed-up in Santa suits?
