Pāpāmoa parents voice fears over release of child-sex offender near schools and childcare centres

The release of a convicted child-sex offender into Pāpāmoa has alarmed parents, who question Corrections’ decision to place him in a densely populated area near schools and childcare centres.

While Corrections insists the man is under strict monitoring, including electronic tracking, exclusion zones, and 24/7 supervision, parents told legacy media communication has been vague and insufficient, leaving them anxious about their children’s safety.

Local principals and childcare providers stressed the importance of better transparency, arguing that communities need clear information to prevent fear and ensure effective safeguarding.

Corrections maintains that public safety is the top priority and that it balances reintegration with community protection.

  1. What’s wrong with Auckland Island? or even Stewart Island? This is clearly a cynical attack on human parents and their families by the absurdly named “Corrections”. Everyone knows an ankle bracelet can be torn off and moved around the house at intervals while the recidivist goes out “shopping”. A continuous GPS signal which enables online ‘reintegration’ …that’s ok?? ?
