Defence Minister Chris Penk will travel to Ankara this week to attend events linked to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Summit (NATO), including the NATO Summit Defence Industry Forum, as New Zealand strengthens defence ties with international partners.
New Zealand will participate as part of the Indo-Pacific Four, alongside Australia, the South Korea and Japan, joining discussions with NATO representatives on regional security and defence cooperation.
Penk said the visit would provide an opportunity to exchange views on the current strategic environment and discuss ways to strengthen collective security with partner nations.
The minister will also attend the Defence Industry Forum, where representatives from New Zealand defence companies are expected to meet with international counterparts. Penk said the forum would help identify opportunities for New Zealand businesses as the Government works to build a more combat-capable and interoperable Defence Force, while exploring faster and more resilient ways to deliver defence capability.
Penk is scheduled to depart New Zealand tomorrow and return on 10 July.
No doubt, alienating a massive trading partners like China, into the bargain. Helps to explain the whole India trade/immigration debacle. Reality is India is part of BRICS and I would suggest any loyalty to that that powerful bloc precludes all other agreements and ties to insignificant players like New Zealand.

An UNCONSTITUTIONAL Church Parliament (since 1986) can do whatever the hell they like – so they do.
Ireland is not a member of NATO and declared itself a militarily neutral country over 100 years ago. Maybe New Zealand voters should be asked in a referendum held on election day whether they wish to be a puppet of the war mongering USA or declare New Zealand to be a militarily neutral country.
New Zealand should not even be a partner to Noth Atlantic NATO. It makes more sense to restart ANZUS.
No one is going to pay any attention to Penk at the NATO summit, but he’ll walk away with a bill for NZ’s contribution to the $17 billion NATO is going to hand over to their favourite zio-nazi dictator in Ukraine with a promise of another $17 billion next year, plus however much the EU gives away ($90 billion) and the US (possibly $60 billion).
