Police appeal for witnesses after campsite assault

Police are seeking information from the public after an assault at a Central Otago campsite that left three people injured.

The incident occurred at the Champagne Gully camping area at about 10pm on Friday, 2 January, when a fight broke out among those present.

A 33-year-old man has since been charged with assaulting three people and is due to appear in the Dunedin District Court tomorrow. Police say their investigation is ongoing and are urging anyone who was at the campsite at the time, or who may have witnessed the altercation or captured footage, to come forward.



Information can be provided to police via 105 using reference number 260103/2900, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
