Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two people following a serious incident in Tāhunanui, Nelson, last week.
The two people who died have been identified as 48-year-old Nicola Yvonne Perry and 49-year-old Brendon James Perry, both of Nelson.
The incident occurred at a property on Parkers Road on Friday, 4 September.
Nelson Bays Area Commander Inspector Steve Collins said Police had now completed their examination of the property. The scene had subsequently been blessed and returned to its owners.
Post-mortem examinations have also been completed as investigators continue gathering information about what occurred. The material collected by Police will be provided to the Coroner.
Police said enquiries into the circumstances of the incident remain ongoing and support continues to be provided to the loved ones of Nicola and Brendon.
Inspector Collins also acknowledged the wider impact the deaths have had on Nelson.
He said members of the community had “no doubt been shaken by this traumatic incident” and thanked those who had come together to support the people affected.
The families have requested privacy as they deal with their loss.
