Police have released the name of the man who died following a homicide in Hamilton last week as investigations continue.
Emergency services were called to a Lake Crescent address at about 6.15pm on Thursday, 18 December, after reports that two people had been injured. One man died at the scene, while the second victim was taken to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.
The deceased has now been formally identified as 55-year-old Jason Poa, who was also known as Jason Tipene.
Detective Inspector Daryl Smith said the homicide inquiry remains ongoing and police are continuing to gather information to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As part of the investigation, police are appealing for information about a Subaru Impreza hatchback with the registration KZH714. Officers are asking anyone who may have seen the vehicle, or who has any other relevant information, to come forward.
