Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Heremaia Manuel, who is wanted in connection with a sexually motivated burglary in central Auckland.
Today warrants in lieu of summons have been issued for the 41-year-old over offending in the early hours of Saturday morning (20 June).
Detective Senior Sergeant Martin Friend, Auckland Central Area Investigations Manager, says Police have worked hard to progress the investigation.
“An offender has allegedly entered a woman’s home in Freeman’s Bay in the early hours, before allegedly committing an indecent assault inside,” he says.
“The male inside has been disturbed at around 3am and fled from the address.”
Police were called and an investigation commenced with urgency, leading to the identification of the alleged offender.
“This was a disturbing event for the victim, and our investigators have been following good lines of enquiry in recent days.”
Welfare has been put in place for the victim.
Detective Senior Sergeant Friend says warrants in lieu of summons have now been issued in the Auckland District Court.
“Manuel is sought for the offences of committing an indecent assault and burglary,” he says.
“We believe he is likely to be in the inner Auckland CBD area, and he is also known to frequent parts of Māngere in the past.”
