Body located, Mohaka
A body has been located north of the Mohaka River mouth south of Wairoa.
The body was recovered by Tairāwhiti Staff yesterday. Formal identification is yet to take place, which may take several days.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the Coroner.
‘Police would like to thank Ngati Pāhauwera for their support during the operation to recover the body.’
A rāhui has been put on the Mohaka beach/river for the next three days.
Police seek information following Feilding crash, Monday 6 November
Police are seeking information following a crash between a car and a motorcycle on Kimbolton Road, Fielding, around 10:30pm, Monday 6 of November.
The driver of the car was reported to have been driving in an erratic manner prior to the crash, which led the driver and motorcyclist to have interactions on Kimbolton Road, between Armadale Road and the Colyton turn off.
The motorcyclist has sustained serious injuries following the crash which saw them come off their motorbike.
The driver of the vehicle failed to remain at the scene or provide assistance to the motorcyclist, and Police would like to speak to them, or anyone who witnessed the crash or the vehicles driving prior to/ following the crash.
The vehicle is believed to be an old-style hatchback with registration beginning “CPW”.
