Two people arrested following Manurewa theft

Police have arrested two people following an assault and theft at a Manurewa supermarket earlier this month.

Police were called to the incident at Browns Road on 14 May, where a security guard was allegedly assaulted and a number of items stolen.

The security guard is continuing to recover at home from his ordeal.

Two men, aged 26 and 29, have now been charged with theft. The 26-year-old has also been charged with aggravated wounding.

Update – Anzac Day burglaries, Whakatāne

Police continue to make progress in relation to two burglaries in Whakatāne on Anzac Day, with another young person referred to Youth Aid in relation to the offences.

About 3.45am on 25 April, Police received a report that a vehicle had been used to enter a dairy on Appenzell Drive, and items were taken.

Then about 4.55am, Police were called to Bridge Street, Edgecumbe, following a report of a burglary at a service station, where a window had been smashed and entry gained.

An earlier search warrant at a Kawerau address resulted in items relating to the burglaries being recovered and a young person being taken into custody and charged.

Today detectives executed a further search warrant at a Kawerau address, and further items relating to the burglary were recovered.

A young person has been referred to Youth Aid.

There are still outstanding offenders in relation to these incidents, and Police are now asking them to come forward as the investigation continues.

Two Waikato men facing meth and firearms-related charges

Waikato Police have executed a series of warrants in Huntly this morning in relation to the supply of methamphetamine.

Two men aged 40 and 42 have been arrested at two separate properties.

Both will appear in court today facing charges including participating in an organised criminal group, conspires to supply methamphetamine and unlawful possession of firearms.

During the warrants police located two firearms along with ammunition, a large amount of cannabis, and cash.

Both firearms were located unsecured inside the houses and what is extremely concerning is that several young children were living at one of the properties.
