Police updates on crime and investigations for 11 October 2022.
Fire, South Wairarapa
Police are assisting Fire and Emergency New Zealand following reports of multiple fires on a rural property in the South Wairarapa.
Police were notified at around 3:55am and arrived to find multiple structures involved on Wards Line in Morison Bush.
Police and Fire and Emergency New Zealand will be commencing scene examinations as part of identifying the circumstances surrounding the fires.
Police will be deployed in the area today engaging with our local community as part of the investigation.
Police would like to speak with anyone who was in the area of Wards Line between 2am and 4am today.

Fatal vehicle incident, Waimarama
One person has died and another person was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a vehicle incident in Hawke’s Bay last night.
Emergency services were notified around 7:50pm of the incident on Harper Road, Waimarama.
It was reported that two people had fallen from a ute.
One person died at the scene, and another person was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The Serious Crash Unit attended.
Police were working to speak with a number of people who were at the scene, as part of the ongoing investigation into what happened.
UPDATE – Serious crash, Lower Kaimai Range
One person has been transported to Waikato Hospital with serious injuries following a crash on SH29, Lower Kaimai Range, reported at around 8am.
An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
The road is now open.
