Posie Parker Rally: Assault victim says basher’s diversion an ‘outright miscarriage of justice’

The victim of a vicious physical attack at a Posie Parker event in Auckland earlier this year consistently opposed moves to give the assailant diversion.

As reported earlier today, the man from Gisborne has been offered diversion by police. Footage of the shocking assault circulated widely on social media, causing outrage.

The man has interim name suppression.

It has emerged this evening via social media that the victim opposed diversion throughout the process. The victim’s views is a key factor police consider in deciding whether or not to grant an offender diversion.

NZ Media Watch contacted an advocate working on behalf of the victim today. The advocate said the victim felt ‘thoroughly let down NZ Police, the Ministry of Justice, and Victim Support. She considers diversion to be an outright miscarriage of justice, that a conviction and the naming of her assailant ought to be the absolute minimum outcome.’

As late as May police were not considering diversion due to the gravity of the man’s attack, but inexplicably changed their mind yesterday – just before the defendant’s latest court appearance today.

  1. Disgusting. Sends a great message police.

Another nail in the coffin for the public perception of the police.

Maybe they could offer the offender a job, seeing as assaults don’t matter when applying to the force

  2. Not a bit surprised. I’m only amazed that the police did not charge the 71yr old victim with assaulting the sexual deviant by striking his fists with her head. The police hierarchy and judiciary in this country have become little more than acolytes of a disgusting corrupt socialist regime bent on the destruction of democracy.

  3. The Police and Judicary are just agents of the corrupt criminal organisation called the NZ Labour Party all sold out to the UN WHO and WEF just like the Democrat Party in the USA. All controlled by Billonaire Oligrachs like the Rockefellers Rothchilds Vangard Blackrock Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation George Soros and a whole host of other aligned organisations hell bent on total world control. We have all witnessed these scenarios before Hitler and or Stalin Mao and their ilk wanting world control. Like the mad scientist in some of the James Bond movies wanting to kill half the earths population and gain world control with some decisive weapon. Its like we are living in that James Bond Psyop movie and we are just the extras in the movie all with our little bit parts to play.

  4. The system is completely broken and disrespectful use of kiwi’s tax money is a plague. Dissolve NZ Parliament/Government as it does not work in the best interests of we the people of NZ. This Woman has not received justice and this Man has not learned a good lesson, the risk of encouraging more violence seems to be the aim here?

  5. I hope this goes both ways because the message it sends me is do what you want to anyone and there are zero consequences, no support from police, no accountability from the courts, no justice for the woman, and no a..e kicking for the thug. Gosh it’s got a ” purge” vibe about it. Now where are my bus tickets to wellington seeing as I have a green light from our powers that be and can open slather on whomever I choose ( as long as they are over 65) with their blessings and zero consequences!!! Who knows maybe I will get rewarded, maybe a knighthood even. Yet another dark day for NZ and another cloak of shame for the police and justice system to wear, and another precious citizen left searching for where her help will come from, and to whom she can turn.
