Haeata Community Campus principal Peggy Burrows has rejected claims that public money was misused on an $18,500 Queenstown trip for six senior staff, insisting the spending was board-approved, transparent, and aligned with national “professional development” guidelines.
The Auditor-General’s annual report, which flagged 21 schools for questionable use of principal development funds and highlighted 27 schools needing financial guarantees, raised concerns about “sensitive expenditure” across the sector, including overseas travel and personal activities at other schools.
Burrows said the Queenstown trip coincided with her SPANZ Conference attendance and involved leadership training and a visit to Wakatipu High School. The report also criticised inadequate documentation and personal travel charges at several schools, stressing any personal component must not cost taxpayers.
Haeata remains under scrutiny following last week’s mouldy school lunch controversy, with a Ministry for Primary Industries investigation finding the spoiled meals were likely left out for days by staff before being served.
That was a holiday at the taxpayers expense. Fire her.

We noted that when a symposium regarding autistic children was held occasionally in NZ, members from the MoE and MoH would attend and ended-up making the same a meet-up and socialisation day.
The items discussed, taught and recommendations made to help autistic students never were, are not now, and never will be implemented by these lazy fuckwits!

Haeata Community Campus is part of a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) called NZ Schools II PPP, established with the New Zealand Ministry of Education, managed by Morrison & Co, a global investment manager, who secured a large sustainability loan for this and other schools. The private involvement comes from this consortium led by Morrison & Co, which handles design, financing, construction, and maintenance for 25 years, in partnership with the government.
