Police investigating an assault in Mount Victoria last week are appealing to the public for information.

Police were called to Austin Street at about 11.40pm on Wednesday 9 September.

Detective Senior Sergeant Tim Leitch from Wellington CIB says a resident of Austin Street was randomly approached by two men as she was putting rubbish out for collection.

“The woman noticed both men standing on the footpath a short distance south of Derby Street. They spoke to her briefly before producing weapons.

“The offenders fled after neighbours heard the struggle and came to her assistance.

“Unfortunately she sustained wounds to her arm.”

The men ran south along Austin Street. A Police dog handler tracked the pair to Porritt Avenue, where the trail was lost near the intersection with Ellice Street.

“We suspect they had a vehicle parked there and fled in it,” says Detective Senior Sergeant Leitch.

Both men were similarly described as muscular in build and wearing dark hoodies. One was about six feet tall, with the other slightly taller. One was wearing a face covering, while the other had dark hair and a dark complexion.

Police are seeking witnesses and relevant footage, including any sightings of people on foot in the Austin Street and Ellice Street areas between 11.30pm and midnight, and of any vehicles leaving Ellice Street after the assault.

“If anyone can help identify these two men please get in touch right away.”

Anyone with information that can assist our investigation is urged to contact Police through 105 online or by phone, referencing file number 260910/8883.

Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

Struck Me as being particularly nasty
    A meth fueled rampage
Which is why it needs to be stamped out along with the purveyors of this misery and those who deal in it and push it
Still nothing on Ann Widdecombe which may have more sinister connotations of a political hit
Maybe the FBLie can help Us?
