Quick arrests after aggravated robbery in Napier

Napier Police have arrested two youths following an aggravated robbery at a commercial premises on Hyderbad Road, Marewa, early this week.

Police responded to reports of two young men entering a commercial address with masks and weapons, not firearms, at around 6:15am on Monday 12 February.

The offenders leapt over the counter and stole various items before fleeing on foot. However, they were tracked down and arrested by the responding Police units a short time later.

‘This is a fantastic result, with the youths apprehended in minutes and all stolen property recovered,’ said police in a statement.

Two youths are due to appear before the Napier District Youth Court on charges related to the incident in due course.

‘Police would like to thank the public’s support and assistance in providing important information to prevent crime and harm in our communities.’

People can report offending as it is occurring by calling 111, or report matters after the fact by calling 105. Reports can also be made online or anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
