Wellington Mayor Tory Whanau says she has received an apology from mayoral candidate Ray Chung over a 2023 email he sent to fellow councillors, in which he relayed third-hand allegations about Whanau’s personal life.
Whanau condemned the email as containing a false, “malicious and sexist” rumour.
Chung, in a recent video statement, expressed regret for writing and sharing the email and claimed its resurfacing was a politically motivated attack to damage his campaign.
