A rubbish truck fire caused disruption in Christchurch’s Ravenswood area around midday, with the incident unfolding on Clayton Street, near the Ravenswood Stars Nursery and Pre-School.

The fire prompted the truck driver to dump the entire load of rubbish at the end of the street to prevent the flames from spreading. The Woodend Fire Brigade responded promptly, extinguishing the blaze before it could cause further damage.

Witnesses reported seeing heavy equipment, including a digger, brought in to assist in transferring the debris back onto a truck.

  1. Just imagine if the rubbish contained old ammo or dynamite that might have been thrown-out…and then having the same ‘cook-off’ whilst going down the road…or an LPG tank or Propane bottle blowing apart.
