A new wave of Russian missile and drone attacks struck multiple regions of Ukraine on Saturday morning, causing widespread blackouts and damaging key infrastructure, according to local officials and media reports.
The Russian Defense Ministry has not yet commented on the operation.
Authorities in the Kiev Region described the assault as “massive,” confirming that three people were injured. Ukraine’s rail operator, Ukrzaliznytsya, said trains were rerouted after an attack on infrastructure in Fastov, southwest of the capital.
In the village of Novye Petrovtsi, debris from a downed drone ignited a fire that spread through a 5,500-square-metre warehouse.
Further north, officials in Chernigov said critical infrastructure was struck. Media outlets reported electricity losses in Dnepr, Kiev Region, and Lviv, while images shared online showed thick smoke over Lutsk, where a fire broke out at a food supply centre.
The mayor of Zelenodolsk also reported ballistic missile strikes near the Krivorozhskaya Thermal Power Plant.
Ukraine’s Energy Ministry later confirmed that energy facilities were hit across six regions, prompting nationwide scheduled outages.
The barrage came hours after a Ukrainian drone targeted a business tower in Grozny.
Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov vowed retaliation, insisting Russian forces would strike only “military terrorist facilities” and not civilian sites.
The reality on the ground is Ukraine has lost. Lost territory. Lost minimum 1.5 million fallen soldiers. Lost the narrative they are morally justified to prosecute confluct against Russian speaking people on that fact alone. Lost billions to corruption.
