The search for Jason Hollows, the 54-year-old fisherman who went overboard on the coast of Hawke’s Bay on Monday 1 April, has been suspended.
An extensive search by the Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) and Hawke’s Bay Search and Rescue has taken place in the intervening weeks, but unfortunately Jason has not been located.
The decision has been made to cease searching at this time and the matter has been referred to the coroner.
‘Police extend our heartfelt condolences to Jason’s family at this difficult time.’
They are receiving support and continue to request privacy.

As an industry leader in Wellington for decades, I can assure you that investors will not return to the Wellington market when the tenants have left Wellington. The seesaw of over populating central government employees then letting them go in bulk is a constant cycle between left and right. Keeping only essential government employees is essential for recovery. Keeping it there is just as essential for long term stability across all industries and will help growth in manufacturing, tourism and other types of employment like software development. Wouldn’t it be nice if the left understood stability by proper governance and didn’t set up Wellington citizens for this forever boom bust economy. That and rents and supply would be more stable for the benefit for everyone including tenants, investors, retailers, builders, plumbers, all manufactures and all service industries.
