Criticism is mounting against Education Minister Erica Stanford after proposed changes to New Zealand’s homeschooling laws were reportedly added to legislation after the select committee process had concluded.
Opponents claim the move prevented homeschooling families from having any opportunity to make submissions to Parliament on the proposed reforms, which they argue would hand broad new powers to the Secretary for Education over homeschooling regulations. Critics say more than 11,000 homeschooled children across New Zealand could be affected by the changes.
The backlash alleges the amendments were inserted into the Education and Training (System Reform) Amendment Bill late in the legislative process, prompting accusations of a lack of transparency and democratic oversight.
Detractors argue the homeschooling system has operated successfully for decades and say the Ministry of Education has failed to demonstrate any evidence of widespread problems requiring reform.
Concerns have also been raised about the Ministry’s engagement with the homeschooling community, with claims officials declined requests to meet with homeschooling representatives during the development of the changes. Critics say the proposed amendments amount to a significant shift in how homeschooling could be regulated in New Zealand.
The controversy has also reignited debate around previous proposals backed by Stanford, including plans for stricter globalist social media age verification measures. Opponents argue the latest homeschooling changes reflect a broader trend toward increased state interference in the lives of citizens and reduced personal freedoms.

Where did erica’s brats go to school?
Our child was diagnosed with ASD, specifically Aspergers, and we received NO help from the mainline schools!
That included public pre-schools, primary schools, and so-called ‘Christian’ schools. No help whatsoever.
Our child suffered targeting, bullying, assaults, being locked in the school’s garden shed in hot weather, beaten over the head with a 2×4, and ignored for special needs / IEP resources.
When the enrolment numbers were up for the purposes of funding in the so-called ‘Christian’ school, the female Principal there began to complain to us about our child’s behaviour.
Seeing the deliberate persecution that we as a family were going to face in the future, we submitted a Homeschool Exemption to the MoE.
It was approved in 3 days..!
When our child turned 18, we finished-up with well over 85 100 page workbooks on various subjects, and did not engage in the dysfunctional NCEA or engage a tutor. In fact, when we proposed hiring our own private tutor to be in the classroom, this was adamantly denied, and we were told that it was ‘illegal’.
The MoE, school staff & teachers, other students, and most of all, the nasty-ass accusatory boutique parents would often say to us “What is wrong with your kid?” or..”Can’t you take your kid someplace else?” or “Your kid is disrupting my child’s education!”
Part of the problem is that one of the child’s parent comes from another country, and the bias was very evident. One teacher even confronted the foreign-born parent with ‘Why are you here?”.
We obtained the notes from the SLT and discovered that our family had been targeted, as the notes were actually an intelligence-gathering ops with the goal of removing our child. Fortunately, we demanded the SLT’s files under the OIA and fired the MoE on the spot!
Now, with our children in their 20’s, they have NO hope of finding a job due to the WEF Ops and the plan to de-populate the Earth.
The saving grace is that we also never had them Covid-19 Bio-Weapon ‘vaccinated’!
The Disabled are now being targeted for euthanasia by several nations.
Those who are ASD in New Zealand are having their benefits cut-off, and their access to a homeschool education removed.
