Starmer steadies himself after near fall at G20 summit (Video)

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer had an awkward start to his G20 visit in South Africa, nearly falling flat as he approached a group of business leaders in Johannesburg.

Footage from the scene shows Starmer stumbling over his own feet while reaching out for a handshake, forcing him to throw out his hands to steady himself with no visible obstacle in his path.

The incident comes as world leaders gather in Johannesburg for the November 22–23 summit, with South Africa hosting the G20 for the first time since taking over the rotating presidency in late 2024. It’s not the first time Starmer has had a misstep on foreign soil—earlier this month he wobbled on the aircraft stairs while arriving in Brazil for the COP30 climate conference, narrowly avoiding a tumble onto the tarmac.
