State media announces cuts to services

RNZ News

State media organisation RNZ has announced major shifts in its cultural programming, including the closure of its youth platform TAHI, the end of the long-running At The Movies radio show with Simon Morris (though continuing as a podcast), and the wrapping up of the Sunday Sampler show.

Culture 101 will also reduce its presenting team from two to one. The broadcaster said the changes followed a review of how it covers music, arts and culture, with a focus on reaching audiences across multiple platforms.

The state-funded broadcaster cited challenges posed by global platforms like YouTube and TikTok, which have made it difficult to sustain a dedicated youth channel.

While TAHI will release its final podcast on 6 November, At The Movies reviews will continue online and via podcast, and The Sampler will feature within Music 101 on Saturdays.

  1. In all history I never thought of RNZ as a youth platform. Are they on hallucination drugs?

However I believe RNZ will be aware just how irrelevant they are.

You had a choice to report the truth about COVID-19, but you choose to dish out bullshit. Now go blow yourself.

  2. But of a shame they decide to cut back on programs about film and movies, surely the lesser of their agenda pushing propaganda.

  3. They are a propaganda merchant for the woke left UN/WEF doing untold damage to our traditional once great NZ way of life.
    Close them down..

  4. It is all just propaganda for the globalist agenda so who cares. Should have been shut off completely decades ago. As a reluctant tax payer ( because taxation with out representation is theift ) l am offended that this is how they waste our money. We should all be demanding a refund. I’m old and all my life the government and their globalist agenda have never represented me ever. To do so they would have to completely abandon all the globalist crap and sadly i do not see that happening anytime soon.

  5. The dinosaur media, slowly but surely in its death throes.
Without Labours propaganda “koha”, the real world must be faced, and it’s not nice is it.
    Hooooooooray.

  6. O dear how sad nevermind NOT maybe if ya didn’t lie and have blood on your hands people would listen but you don’t so too bad!

  7. Oh deary me, guess the young aint buying the “one source of truth” stick from the sleazy old government and its proxies. Let hope they stop voting mainstream too, as is increasingly the case in Germany and France.
