Auckland Police have recovered two pedigree British Shorthair cats stolen during a burglary at a West Auckland property, returning them safely to their owner after a swift investigation.
The theft occurred at a Rush Creek Drive home in Westgate on Saturday while the owner was in the process of moving house. After returning to collect his remaining belongings, including the two cats, he discovered they were missing and reported the incident to Police.
Waitematā West Area Prevention Manager Acting Inspector Nick Salter said officers quickly launched enquiries into the burglary. Information gathered from nearby residents, including CCTV footage, helped investigators identify those allegedly involved.
Police subsequently located both cats at a property in Massey and reunited them with their owner.
Acting Inspector Salter said the case highlighted Police’s commitment to investigating all reports of burglary and theft, regardless of the items targeted.
Three youths, aged 12 and 13, have been referred to Youth Aid Services in connection with the incident.

The crims recruit these kids as they are not considered to be adults and if caught, get handled with Kid Gloves, bringing much lesser charges than an adult crim would…usually!
Besides, the youth in NZ can see no other way in making money other than thru criminally-based activities.
No other entity is interested in the kids who are disadvantaged in many ways…
The kids have minimal education, minimal chance of getting a living wage job, and foresee themselves getting conscripted at some point for the ongoing World War Three which is expanding.

All articles concerning police are full of the police force patting themselves on the back boasting how good they are why do they do that. Is it because they are wanting us to think they really do the job we pay them to do. Just give us the info and stop congratulating yourselves police are useless
