A sparky’s senses sniffed out a large-scale commercial grow house, resulting in hundreds of cannabis plants being located.

On Wednesday afternoon, Police received information about a possible illegal operation hidden in the heart of Ōtāhuhu.

“An electrician working in the area noticed unusual wiring coming from a warehouse on Queen Street,” Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Hayward, of Counties Manukau West CIB, says.

“Ventilation pipes were also seen, which gave the telltale signs that the warehouse was being used for illegal activity.

“An unmistakable smell was coming from the ventilation – it was a cannabis growing operation.”

Police put a scene guard in place with a search warrant executed on Thursday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Hayward says around 360 cannabis plants were located inside, underneath 15 tents.

“We would like to acknowledge the man for acting on his senses and reporting the suspicious set up to us.”

Police continue to encourage people reporting suspicious activity in their communities by calling 111, or reporting information through 105 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

    • It was incompetence of the growers that they got caught..Weed smells when buds are forming..Any room that contains plants has to be fully sealed apart from an inlet at the base & another up high for the exhaust which expels air from a fan from inside through a carbon filter which when replaced at intervals will never leave a trace of a smell..Then there’s other tell tale signs that need to be hidden..They would’ve got away with it if they were smarter…Weed is a better drug than crack, alcohol etc nobody will go mental

      • Eating cat sh!t is MUCH healthier than eating dog sh!t or pig sh!t. What’s the problem?

        No.

Stoners are lazy and irritating. And dangerous behind the wheel. That stuff should remain illegal, along with all the other crap you mentioned. Even booze and nicotine are a social cancer. ALL drugs dumb you down, make you dependent on a crutch to get by, and weaken you psychologically and intellectually. Weed makes you do stupid sh!t you would normally have the good sense not to, ask any of the thousands of idiots currently rotting away in prison if the high was worth a couple decades of their lives.

At this very moment there are wars happening, governments spending every waking moment dreaming up new ways to drive us and our children into poverty and about a billion Indian immigrants getting ready to come here as soon as they’re given the all clear.

Put the weed down and do something constructive.

  1. It is a natural pharmakon (medicine) and the State (crime syndicate) does not want any competition with its collaboration with the distribution of Big Pharma’s chemical poisons, which are promoted by the state to cull its citizens. The state won’t tolerate healthy citizens, hence natural medicines.

  2. A source familiar with the matter confirmed those looking to obtain illicit drugs should seek only gang sppliers controlled and coordinated by by NZ Police national gang unit.
