A woman confronted her former high school teacher, Samuel Bryant Ramsay, in Christchurch District Court, tearfully recounting the trauma from his grooming and sexual abuse that began when she was 13 in 2017.
Ramsay, then a 26-year-old teacher, initiated contact via Facebook, escalating to a sexual relationship by the time she was 15, manipulating her into using contraception.
The victim, now suffering from PTSD, described the profound shame and distrust that disrupted her life, family, and relationships.
Despite Ramsay’s guilty plea and expressions of remorse, the court sentenced the 33-year-old to two years and seven months in prison for sexual connection and indecent acts with a minor, citing a significant breach of trust.
His name will be added to the Child Sex Offender Register, ending his teaching career.

Amazing that during the time of New Zealand’s Provincial Victorian Society in the 1800’s and early 1900’s that a 40+ year old man could marry a 16 year old girl…or younger IF the girl’s family consented.
Nowadays, that’s criminalised, BUT…those with money and good lawyers can shake-off the antagonisers.
Besides, sexuality, a normal human behaviour, has been weaponised by the Jewdicial System, and also in the schools as inappropriate ‘grooming’, relationships, etc between male teachers and female students.
Some get caught…but some keep it all under wraps and then marry when the girl is old enough, and have children from such a relationship, but these successes are ignored and never reported on…
The older man may have a criminal judgement levied against him via statutory rape clauses (which can now get a male a death sentence in Florida, Utah and several other proposed U.S. States…) for such a relationship, and registered as a ‘Child Sex Offender’, and remains so even if he marries his younger female partner and starts a multi-children family. No repeal there…
