The Teaching Council, responsible for teacher registration, professional standards and education programme approvals, is under investigation by the Public Service Commission following a complaint about its management of procurement and conflicts of interest.
Education Minister Erica Stanford requested the inquiry, which began on 8 September and is due to report by December.
Chair David Ferguson confirmed no staff have been stood down and said no details could be provided while the process is ongoing.
Last year the council received $20.8m in revenue and spent $18.8m.
