Three people have been charged after a firearm was discharged during a road rage incident in Manukau last week.
At about 5pm on 26 August Police received a report of a crash involving two vehicles on Ronwood Avenue.
Detective Inspector Shaun Vickers, Counties Manukau CIB, says the confrontation on Ronwood Avenue has occurred after an initial altercation in a nearby carpark moments earlier.
He says two men allegedly exited one of the vehicles and discharged a firearm into the driver’s side of the windscreen.
Both vehicles have then driven onto Ronwood Avenue and continued the altercation, which has been captured on video and shared on social media.
“Officers have made several enquiries and arrested and charged three people in relation to this incident.
“Three men, aged 37, 28 and 27, have been remanded in custody and charged with multiple offences including discharging a firearm, assault with intent to injure and dangerous driving.
“It’s incredibly lucky no one was injured.”
Detective Inspector Vickers says Police are also aware of the video circulating on social media in relation to this incident.
“We strongly urge the community to cease posting photos or personal details of these individuals on social media.
“Police are pleased these men have been held to account for this violent behaviour.
“If anyone has concerns or information relating to offending that is occurring, this should be reported to Police immediately so it can be dealt with appropriately.”
He says Police are also seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident and who hasn’t yet spoken to Police, to please come forward.
