Three injured in Christchurch apartment fire

Three people were injured, one seriously, following a fire in a Christchurch apartment late Tuesday evening.

Authorities were alerted to the fire in Shirley shortly before 10 p.m., according to emergency services.

Upon arrival firefighters found the apartment heavily engulfed in flames said a FENZ spokesperson.

A team of four fire engines was dispatched to tackle the fire.

St John reported that of the three individuals injured, one was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place this morning.
